Slime is relaxing and relieves anxiety

The squeezing and stretching action that most people naturally do when playing with slime can help release tension, aiding in relaxation.

While all the senses can make us feel calm, the sense of touch is thought to be a route to a deeper relaxed state.

Slime promotes mindfulness and grounding

When an adult/child is focused on the tactile experience of playing with slime, they aren’t focused on their thoughts, worrying about the future, or replaying past events.

Mindfulness is the practice of being aware and accepting of what is happening in the present.

Mindfulness is a way to handle overwhelming feelings like anxiety and helps people feel more relaxed and focused on daily life.

Grounding skills are anything that a person can do to help them feel more “rooted” or “grounded’ in the present, rather than allowing their mind to drift elsewhere.

Slime stimulates the senses

Focusing on the details of the color, sensations, smells, and sounds of the slime helps to stimulate a full sensory experience.

Slime helps strengthen fine motor skills

Manipulating slime and measuring ingredients can strengthen fine motor skills.

Slime gives an alternative to screen time

Many kids are so interested in slime that they’ll happily give up some screen time to play with it.

Slime allows adults to tap into their inner child.

As we grow up and become adults, we forget to play and have fun. By playing, we invite joy and vitality into our lives.

Playing triggers a release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals.

Engaging in “playtime” gives us interrupted time for indulging in pleasurable, creative exploration.
